Sailing in Balearic Islands, or how a skipper repaid his debt after 5 years

It’s official, after 5 full years, Greece is no longer my favorite place to go sailing, it has been surpassed by amazing Balearic Islands, Spain. Don’t get me wrong, Greece is still one of the best places to go sailing, but oh wow! did Spain over delivered, that much that we can’t wait to go back over and over again in the next years, as we feel we saw 5% of what those islands had to offer.

Visiting Cyprus , or how to make a friend cry at the airport

IMG-20141129-WA0024As women, in our 30s, single, married, mothers, workaholics, travelers, we sometimes feel the need to run, get away, and forget all your responsibilities and problems for a long weekend just us girls. Also it helps if the birthday of one of us is approaching, and what better gift to give than an all-paid-4-day-surprise-escape-girlfriends-included? Of course the most patriotic thought comes in mind first: let’s go somewhere in Romania, stay at a nice hotel, and treat ourselves with nice meals, massages and cosmetic treatments, and an occasional cocktail (occasionally every 30 minutes). Guess what? It’s sometimes cheaper to escape in another country, than do this in our beautiful, crazy country. Continue reading

Personal take : What I’ve learned traveling

il_570xn-132127969I’ve always loved to travel. I remember my yearly trips to the seaside when I was little, where my grandparents were, from Brasov. I didn’t feel the stress of packing, or the nervousness of the trip, rather an excitement that I am moving, changing scenery, places and people.
With years, and first trips abroad, this evolved in quite a disease, presently I can barely stay put in Bucharest for more than 5-10 days without planning the next “escape”. I try to explain this by saying that my life goal is to see the entire world, everything, at least once. Continue reading
